I’M ALFRED,
IT’S SO NICE TO HAVE YOU HERE.

…and this is Halo, she’s my co-pilot.

I was born and raised in the beautiful state of California, living in San Francisco until I moved to the Pacific Northwest and made Portland, Oregon my home as a wedding photographer.

I had never traveled further than the outskirts of California until one day I found myself on the road with a Rock N' Roll Marathon Tour, running half marathons across the United States. I was a sponge for taking in all the sights, sounds, and adventures and started documenting everything with my camera.

That started my love for landscape photography - being able to tell a story about a single moment-in-time, which inevitably led me to become a Portland wedding and elopement photographer. Now I combine my passion for capturing stunning wedding landscapes with intimate wedding moments, serving couples throughout Oregon, Washington, and California.

Being able to make genuine connections with couples and tell their wedding stories through timeless photography is what drives me as a Portland wedding photographer. Whether you're planning an elegant Portland wedding, an intimate Oregon elopement, or a destination celebration across the West Coast, I'm here to document your authentic love story with a candid and timeless approach.

Let’s Play 21 Questions…

  • I truly enjoy creating art. Combine it with storytelling and my passion for making others happy, wedding photography makes sense to me. Doing things outside of the box and finding different angles to tell a story is what inspires me. Being able for a random person to feel what the subjects in my images do is my goal.

  • There are many factors why wedding photographers pricing ranges so greatly. A rule of thumb is simply supply & demand. Some photographers can shoot hundreds of weddings a year, and others would rather focus on quality and service and thus may only shoot 20-30 weddings a year. Wedding photography isn't easy! It can age your body 5 times faster than other occupations would. Personally, I don't want to be the WalMart of wedding photography where I pump out mediocre products. I am a boutique type of wedding photographer that offers the best experience, service and product possible. (Insert link here when I blog about what it costs to be a wedding photographer).

  • While I mainly focus on wedding photography, I will happily choose to photograph families, dogs, lifestyle, branding images, etc. Contact me if you have something in mind and think my work would be a great fit for you!

  • All wedding packages include a consultation, helping with your wedding day timeline, recommendation of vendors, full resolution and processed digital images delivered to you on a wedding gallery for 1 year after your wedding date and keeping your future MIL or FIL in check should you need someone to settle them down.

  • Yes. Your digital downloads come with printing rights that you can take to a printing lab of your choice! Although, I can not be responsible with the outcome of the prints from the labs and what they do with the digital files.

  • Absolutely! I love designing albums as it brings me back to your wedding day. Yes, I get a little sentimental as I shoot for the album (or rather, I shoot for the story). Any prints ordered through your wedding gallery will be checked and approved by me before I send it off to the print lab. I may re-edit them for consistency and will definitely re-edit any images for your wedding album.

  • I’ve been documenting love stories for 9 years and don't see myself slowing down anytime soon!

  • I carefully limit the number of weddings I take each year to ensure I give every couple my full attention and energy. This number tends to be around 18-25 weddings a year. And there won't be too many weekends where I shoot a wedding one day after another. Wedding photographers get what we call "wedding hangovers" from being on our feet and having our minds run for 8-12 hrs straight and the fatigue (both physical and metal) from it is real! So in order to be at my best for each and every couple, I try to get a good few days of rest before your big day!

  • I do not have an assistant and I do not feel the need for one, yet. I do typically shoot alone as I'm confident I can cover everything that happens during a wedding day. It allows me to focus on the story and not have to manage a 2nd shooter. Should you believe you need a 2nd shooter for your wedding day, we can absolutely add that onto your wedding package!

  • Honest, romantically dramatic and bold is how I would describe my photography style. It's sometimes hard to put into words what my style is, but the feedback I get most is that it's natural and emotional - and I'm fine with this description as well! I also consider my style “loose editorial” as described by Lensel: "Loose Editorial" photography blends the elegance and refinement of classic editorial imagery with the natural, candid emotion characteristic of documentary-style photography.

  • My creative process begins with getting to know my couples - both as individuals and as a couple. From there, I understand your love story and what makes them tick. On wedding day, I immerse myself the wedding day setting - the venue, the people and the details. I attempt to creatively bring them together into an image or series of images to tell a story that is natural and authentic to the wedding day story.

  • Absolutely! Let me know what venue you've booked or looking at so that I may send you a gallery that may reflect the same settings.

  • All images are fully edited (straightened, cropped and colour adjusted) to fit your wedding day vibes. Other services that involve Photoshop (removing objects or body shape editing) are offered at an additional charge.

  • The prices you see and whichever package combo you choose is the price you'd be paying. I don't like hidden fees or surprise add-ons, so I would expect the same from my own business. Destination weddings or weddings that require me to travel out of the West Coast will need to have customized packages.

  • Yes! We can start with the base package and then add a la carte items as you see fit.

  • After an inquiry and a meet 'n greet, a non-refundable retainer payment and signing of the contract officially books me for your wedding date!

  • Once I'm officially booked, non-refundable retainers are not refundable. *knock on wood* Should anything happen and the wedding is called off, all monies paid minus the non-refundable retainer is paid back. Rescheduling or postponing a wedding date incurs a fee of $800.

  • Sneak peeks of your wedding are sent to you about 3 days after your wedding date. I do try for the day after as I understand how exciting newlyweds are for their photos and to share their joyous day! The final gallery is sent out 6-8 weeks after the wedding date.

  • Don't overthink it. Take out any of the frills that don't mean anything to you. A wedding day should be fun and not a performance show (unless you enjoy performing, then have at it!)

  • I can blow little bubbles with my tongue!

  • I would have loved to be a UX designer or an architectural engineer and maybe own and run a cafe one day!

kind WORDS from REAL couples:

Phoebe & Michael

“A picture is just a picture unless it captures the essence of the moment. It takes someone with dynamic talent, an eye for composition, and understanding of human behavior and emotions to create aesthetically beautiful memories through pictures. If this is what you're looking for from a photographer, then look no further. Alfred is your guy!”
