Visually narrating emotional connections

Maui Destination Wedding // Trang & Yunice

January, like everywhere else in the northern hemisphere, is a 'winter' month for the islands of Hawaii. The locals told me the water was cold. But me, being from northern California and now residing in the chilly climates of Portland, Oregon - excuse me, as I took every opportunity to strip down to my burrito-bod, mash my toes between the fine sand and dive head first into the room-temperature swells of Maui. But outside my love for swimming in warm waters, I was here to celebrate a marriage of two beautiful brides: Trang & Yunice.  Back in May of 2016, we had a connection session in San Francisco at the Sutro Baths Ruins. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience and see the relaxed and loving connection between them. Read more about the connection session here.

Flash forward to a chilling low-80s degrees Fahrenheit in Kihei, Maui, Trang & Yunice decided that getting married on the beach side was best for the soul. I couldn't agree more and could not be anymore privileged to document their wedding. It was a full wedding day with a 5:30am wake up call to get ready and the last person being shooed off the dance floor at 11pm. Yes, we absolutely did take shots on the hour of every waking hour (after 11am). What is a party without a little adult beverage?!

I hope these images tells the story better than I could ever write it. At one point during the reception, my teary-eye couldn't focus. Congratulations, Trang & Yunice! Here's to the end of time!
